UPGRADING AND WORKING MEETINGS OF EDSA MANAGEMENT 2015

FBS-Karangmalang The quality of a manager is a support for successful performance to achieve the vision and mission that drives the organization's wheels. Therefore, the quality and spirit of the management must always be improved through upgrading activities held by the English Education Student Association or more familiarly known as the English Department Student Association (EDSA). After conducting a series of recruitment of new staff for the 2015 management period, EDSA carried out an upgrade under the theme "EDSA is family-friendly, intelligent, and ready to welcome". Upgrading is one of the routine agendas held by the EDSA Organizational Advisory Council (MPO). The activity which lasted for two days (21-22/3/2015) was attended by 60 participants and took place at Wisma Kalioerang, Kaliurang.

The first day's activities, which took place from morning to night, began with various games, where each game has the essence to train the creativity, leadership and problem solving of the board. A lot of noise was seen in the activities held in the courtyard of Wisma Kalioerang. After the game, the participants entered the matriculation activity which was divided into three material input sessions regarding organization and leadership.

In the first session, Adelita Anindya (EDSA Expert Staff 2014) presented material on production management and conflict management in an event. “When you handle an event, it's like you are working like wearing glasses on a horse. Work in a straight line, but creativity is still wide,” she said.

Before entering the second session, all participants who have been divided into eight groups display the creations of mini pencils. The material input continued to the second session on EDSA which was accompanied by Muhammad Nafis Faraz (Head of Art and Literature Division EDSA 2013). Nafis explained a lot about the functions and principles of the organization in general, and EDSA in particular. He explained that the EDSA principles of freedom, openness and togetherness must be upheld. When these three principles go hand in hand with all components of EDSA, the dynamics of the organization will run according to the original goal.

In another session, Pangestu Adi Wiyasa (Chairman of EDSA 2010) conveyed his experiences while leading EDSA accompanied by motivation to burn the spirit of the 2015 EDSA management.

The experienced speakers were deliberately chosen so that the participants could maximize the material for their performance capital for the next year. This is in line with the purpose of this upgrade. "The main essence is to prepare 2015 EDSA for the next period with material input that is able to build organizational fundamentals," explained Almas Rifqi Darmawan, chairman of the MPO as well as the person in charge of upgrading.

On the second day, the event continued with a work meeting. The work meeting aims to formulate work programs from all divisions during this management period.

The event closed with all participants chanting the EDSA hymn and its flagship jargon “We strengthen one another!” out loud.

Baihaqi Adi Utama as Chair of EDSA 2015 has high hopes with this upgrading. "Hopefully the management friends will be better prepared, better and better able to deal with problems that will later arise along with their process," he hoped. (Muvida/Humas FBS)
