TWO ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDENTS OF UNY WIN 2ND WINNER OF NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC WRITING COMPETITION OSH AT UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA

FBS - Karangmalang Two students from English Education managed to make achievements in a national-scale event, namely the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Scientific Writing Competition Expo 7 Competition 2015 organized by the Student Association of the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia on Friday, 29 May 2015. In this annual event with the theme "Cultivate OSH in Daily Life", the Yogyakarta State University delegation managed to make a brilliant achievement, namely getting 2nd place out of the top 10 delegation teams from other parts of Indonesia.

This team is consisted of 3 students and 1 supervisor, namely Dian Rizka Silvia (English Education student of year 2014) as chairman, Okta Lesagia (English Education student of year 2014), and Nugroho Wahyu Sumartono (Chemistry Education student of year 2013) and an Advisory Lecturer, Ani Setyaningsih, M.A. who is a lecturer in the Department of English Education.

On this occasion, the UNY delegation presented his work entitled "OSH Butterfly: OSH Pop Up Book as a Learning Media to Cultivate OSH in Elementary Schools and Kindergartens". The concept is to adopt the Pop Up book as learning medium to cultivate OSH in everyday life, especially in elementary schools and kindergartens. The goal is that the application of OSH can be implemented not only in the environment of workers and companies but also the values ​​of OSH become a good culture, especially for the younger generation of Indonesia.

In this case, the team admits that this championship is a matter of pride because the opponents present in this competition are very tough, namely the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Brawijaya University, Jember University, Indonesian Education University, and Trunojoyo University Madura.

Most of their opponents came from the faculty of public health and engineering who were very knowledgeable about OSH. Thanks to hard work, teamwork, and support from related parties, the UNY delegation was able to win 2nd place in this competition. The first place was won by the Brawijaya University team and the third winner was won by the team from Gadjah Mada University.
